sub⎹division is a monthly bass-oriented party in Victoria, BC. It’s focus is to wholeheartedly support the burgeoning scenes of music orbiting around the fringes of bass music, be it dubstep shoot-offs, post-hip-hop lazers, UKFunky or classic 2step garage. Each month, sub⎹division will offer a dedicated gathering place for enthusiasts of these evolving scenes, with a mandate to explore ever-permutating styles through a mix of local & international artists.
AKA we want to party with you to fresh new music. LESSS GOOOWW!
The Big Reds [Gobe, Frame & Rhythmicon]
Victoria’s three-man dubstep juggernaut has a simple mission: to rock your bassbins. Gobe, Frame & Rhythmicon hold over twenty combined years of DJ experience. Together they create a collective blend of irie dub roots, two step & techno depth, and of course all-out dirty face-melting bass smashers. And they’re like the nicest fucking dudes ever.
Eames
After bringing electro to Victoria’s masses (with pal Will McFarland as BNGZ & KRLZ), Kevin Ehman recently emerged from a musical cocoon with an Akai midi controller & a sickening selection of broken techno & UKFunky blazers. Eames’ sets are becoming more & more polyrhythmic, evolving in parallel with the new permutations of bassy house music emanating from the UK & beyond. And he also knows what you should be wearing at all times. Like for real.
Longshanks
Longshanks has been the longtime resident of one of Victoria’s most successful parties: SOLID! Saturday @ Lucky Bar. A fan of leftfield electronics, he helms the sub⎸div ship, amped to bring new club sounds to Victoria’s dancing masses. Live, his Ableton sets are fueled by his own original productions & edits, plus a smattering of genres, from 92 bpm heaters to 2step & Funky. Plus, he’s always waiting for the perfect moment to drop “Red Hot Car”.
