Slugabed • Illum Sphere • Blue Daisy: Sept. 10

An absolutely monstrous show for sub⎸div this September… as if Rifflandia wasn’t enough, Sept. 10 will see some of the UK’s finest cutting edge producers gracing the sub⎸div stage. All three of these cats represent where the fam is steering toward;  the fringes of everything new & exciting.

Hath no fear – there will be bass here & plenty of it. But it will be delivered with a healthy dose of textural potency & loping rhythms, the type that make your neck snap the fuck off. Totally amped for the next level of future-funk to roll through… PEEP THE STREAMS BELOW.

Slugabed & Kuedo

Ugh, it’s been a minute, yikes was February craaazy. Anyway, as a testament to all the mind-bending jams being released at the moment, we’re gonna keep a steady roll of “CHECK THIS SHIT OUT” posts going cos hey, it’s the easiest way for y’all to get sneak peaks on what you’ll be hearing from the  sub⎪div soundsystem.

SO, mega props to Planet Mu for just keeping the heat coming. These two EPs have not left the HPs over the last few weeks, another testament to Mike Paradinas’ a&r-ing & vision. Slugabed; well, no clue what the deal with Greg Feldwick is, but the tunes are some neon-purple, post-Dilla glitch-dub that has some near-embarrassing head-nodding occurring on my busrides home. “Goulash” has a semi-carnival feel through its motif, but really guts you when it drops into some concrete jungle, doom-step. Clock it…

Kuedo is the newest project helmed by Jamie of Vex’d. Ah Vex’d… (sidenote: thanks go to Hrdvsion for putting me onto their pulverizing Degenerate… for those not in the know, Degenerate was a milestone in the then still-developing bass community, fusing grime, 2-step, dubstep & hardcore industrial breakscapes into a behemoth of a monster… but there’s a looming sense that peeps just don’t really know Vex’d – get on that y’all) Anyways, yeah, much akin to Slugabed, the Kuedo sound is illuminated by fizzing neon synth work & a healthy dose of the Dilla non-quantized beat programming that has revitalized instrumental hip-hop over the last few years. Plus bonus: mega fucking melodic.
