sub|division Q&A: Daega Sound

Ben & Josh Serles aka Daega Sound System are no strangers to bass-enthusiasts on the West Coast. The brothers have been busy wading around the low end, DJing, promoting or producing in some form or another for a minute now. Back in October, Daega ended up headlining a gig at Element with Max Ulis when Rusko canceled. The crowd that showed up was treated to a deep set of Daega as they pulled out all the stops with a pummeling live PA set. sub|division is proud to kick off or inaugural event by celebrating one of the West Coast’s most exciting & promising new artists. We had a chance to ask the Searies boys some questions about there influences, their past & the future… be sure to download the mix below. It features a bunch of Daega originals & heavy hitters like Jus Wan, DJG & Breakage…

welcome to the low end

sub speaker coneLSP is excited to announce the birth of Victoria’s first dedicated monthly bass-event: sub|division. 2009 has been an excellent year for music that orbits around the low-end of the frequency spectrum & bpm range, be it dubstep, glitch-hop, wonky or 2-step permutations. Each month, sub|division will offer a dedicated gathering place for enthusiasts of these evolving scenes, with a mandate to explore ever-permutating styles through a mix of local & international artists.

Beginning Dec. 18 at Lucky Bar, Daega Sound will wind down 2009 with a deep, 60Hz throb & preemptively kick off what will no doubt prove to be an exciting 2010. After their scorching live set headlining October’s no-Rusko-show with Max Ulis @ Element, Daega will return to Victoria for a DJ set that is not to be missed.

This blog will be the center for all activity surrounding sub|division & its corresponding events, crews & releases. Please stay tuned.
